Surigao-Siargao DIY Itinerary for Five (5) days
Check Jason’s short edit of our Siargao trip
If you have read our previous blogs, perhaps you already know that my fiance/ travel buddy had a job reassignment in Surigao few months ago
. He even brought with him his bike and drove for days from Manila to Surigao and wrote about it here. ( http://goradexplorer.com/manila-to-surigao-roadtrip/ )
This is a trip that did not involve too much planning. We booked rooms days before. We did not have a well planned itinerary until we were there. All we think is that we wanted to see each other so bad and spend a week together after being months apart. Despite though, I still believe we managed pretty well our time and was able to visit most of the prominent and beautiful spots in Surigao. Most of the days we spent in Siargao.

Day 1 – Inland Tour
For the land tour, we highly rent a motorcycle. Not only that it’s faster, it is also cheaper. You can also manage. your time well. When you into group tour, that will cost you 1500 per person. In our case it’s Php 350.00 for the motorcycle rent then 200 for the gas divided by two. We were able to save a lot.
For the Inland tour, I suggest that you prioritise going to Mapupungko Rock formation in the morning since high tide is in the afternoon. You will no longer see its natural pools if it’s high tide. After Mapupungko, you can proceed to Maasin River and the Coconut Farm Plantation. Then you can proceed to the Sugba Lagoon. From the airport, it will take almost two hours of your time.
Of course, you can end the tour by surfing in Cloud 9, Siargao. It’s definitely the best place for surfing with their big waves and clean waters and great trainers.
Day 2 – Island Tour
For the island tour, we decided to rent a boat which cost 1500. The itinerary includes Guyam, Daku and Naked Island. There were not so many tourists when we visited Siargao so the experience was even better. It’s like being in a private islans. Boat rentals are available at the port or you can coordinate with your hotel so they can arrange one for you.
Day 3 – Club Tara
Our Club Tara trip was the most memorable part of this trip and also the most expensive one.
I looooove this paradise so much. The only issue that I had, a petty one, was that the repairing of the Jacuzzi Rooms was ongoing so it was not the ideal perfect IG shots. But overall, our experience was amazing.
To get there, you have to contact Club Tara directly so they can arrange a direct boat to pick you up from hayanggabon or Socorro port because that’s the only way you can get there.
From Dapa port, we took a passenger boat going to Socorro, that’s 100-120 pesos per passenger. Then from Socorro, we were picked up by a private boat from Club Tara. The private boat costs 1500 one way.

We had the whole day eating, swimming, kayaking and basking in the sun. I appreciate how serene this place is. The beach is also very clean. Expect the food to be pricey too because it’s an isolated island and supplies are still being transported through boat.
Day 4 – Enchanted River
From Club Tara, we requested to be transferred to Hayanggabon port. From Hayanggabon, it was a long motorcycle ride going to Hinatuan via Surigao-Davao Coastal Road.
There are other options like bus and vans and motorcycle rentals fom Surigao City or Butuan.
Entrance fee is 40 pesos and 20 pesos for the environmental fee. We parked our motorcycle and e-jeepney ride going to the river. It’s a free back and forth transportation.
We decided to spend our night at Tandag. There are several inns along Tandag boulevard.
The next day, it’s another long ride going back to Hayanggabon where I ride another passenger boat going back to Dapa. We have a free day back in Siargao where I decided to buy some pasalubongs and souvenirs for some special people back in Manila.
